How to Remodel Your Home for a Home Day Care
Mayra Martinez’ Daycare Tour 2020 // Small Family Home Daycare is a tour of her in-home day care facility. She describes the setup and use of each room.
The video begins at the front door entrance, where she shows the parent calendar, sign-in and sign-out sheets, and points to the information required by the day care inspectors.
Much of the video is spent in the kitchen and playroom areas. The kitchen has a children’s table with four chairs and a separate highchair. Mayra says she keeps the kitchen and house clean and uncluttered, commenting, “When you run your business from your home, your home is your image.”
The playroom is open with various toy cubbies and mats, though she does not like the color of the carpeting. She displays artwork created by the children and wall charts with sight words, numbers, colors, and other information that she regularly changes.
A separate classroom has a whiteboard, learning posters, and a tub with workbooks and copies to hand out to the kids. Flashcards, play money, animal identification activities, coloring and phonics books are also available. She stores the children’s sleeping cots in the classroom closet.
Mayra has an attractive facility. Also valuable is her presenting the positives and negatives of some of the equipment she acquired.
